This is a message to parents as a pertains to sports performance training, but it also applies to overall sports training as well. To set the tone of this article I wanna ask you a question. As a Marathon won in the first minute or in the last hour? I know this might seem like a dumb question but this is the exact picture that gets painted when it comes to parents in sports performance training or parents and athletics as a whole. Think of it this way if you have a seventh-grade athlete that’s trying to get better to make the team to go play college athletics and maybe play past that that athlete won seventh grade has five more years of preparation before they go to play at that next level. I am faced with parents constantly that one the most out of their kid and they want it immediately well in a utopia that would be great and ideally everyone would have this pushing your kid harder on a day-to-day basis because of this thought that you have that the harder they go the quicker they get there might not be completely true. Well in theory it’s true there’s a lot of elements to this that come into play. By rigorously attacking sports performance Training School Training and just athlete training as a whole you could see a lot of adverse side effects sure you could get better but in some circumstances the more you do the more you could be inhibiting recovery and inhibiting overall growth. Another very real circumstance is the idea of overuse and injuries due to over-usage. You also have Athlete burn out which is very common and I think goes so hard for so long at a particular sport but by the time it is time to play that next level they have no interest anymore. I’m the number one advocate that your athlete should be playing sports they should be doing skill training directly related to that sport and they should definitely be doing sports performance training to help increase the overall athletic abilities, but I am also the biggest proponent against over-usage overworking and negatively affecting your kid’s relationship with the game. As a parent, there’s some level of strict pushing and perseverance that you have to push into your kid to get them to where they want to be that’s inevitable but there comes a limit where this pushing word how strict you are not only is affecting your kid’s relationship with the game it’s affecting your kid’s relationship with you. Well, sports are amazing and could be amazing for paying for college and possibly paying for her salary in the future sports are going to end at some point in time. Sports will not last forever and in the marathon of life sometimes you need to take a step back and look at it forever. Love sports love your kid love the process of getting your kid to be the great push your kid to do skill training sports performance training overall athlete training to get them to the next level realize along the way you have to be in control just as much as they are and you have to push them in ways to work for them and not just ways to work for you.
