One thing I see with a lot of my athletes is confusion on when they should start training whether it’s sports performance training speed training a vertical jump training. Some feel that skill-based training is of The utmost importance and that sports performance training speed training and vertical jump training can come later. In this article in particular I’m just going to be talking about vertical jump training in another article I will cover all other aspects of training. So when should you start vertical jump training? Well, the answer to this question is as soon as possible. I know that’s vague and might not be an exact answer for you but if you’re thinking about vertical jump training then you probably should’ve already started. Obviously overworking have you lifting things like that there’s a time and a place to do those things but when it comes to technique and just the feeling of jumping there’s no soon enough time to start vertical jump training as a kid you run around and jump the more you can jump and put yourself in that position to find out how to jump higher and what you can do to jump better the better. With this, if your kid is in middle school and hasn’t yet started doing any type of training for their vertical jump or anything like that then it’s time to get started. What you typically see is a kid that should’ve been doing vertical jump Training The hasn’t another freshman and the inability to jump is directly affecting the game. You don’t wanna jump on it when it’s too late. Skill-based training is something that can be developed relatively quickly you can spend an entire day in the gym working on a crossover are working on juggling and get good at it and be good at it by the end of the day can you be the best probably not can you be good enough that you can compete probably sell training for athleticism is the complete opposite if you go to the gym and you do squats all day trying to get your leg stronger by the end of the day you’re not gonna be able to jump higher for the days following you probably will not be able to jump any higher. With skill-based training theoretically the more you do the better you get when it comes to athleticism training sports performance training and vertical jump training same as not stand true yes the more you do the stronger you get but over time you can’t go spend an entire day and count every repetition you did that day and say every single one of those repetitions has a better because the fact of the matter is towards the end of that that you were probably getting worse on every repetition because of overuse So I guess the answer is don’t wait till it’s too late get started and get ahead of the game so that way all of your athleticism and your vertical jump training is put to good use and you can see the benefits as you develop as an athlete.
