Being sure that you’re in good hands when it comes to sports performance training should be the number one concern of all parents and all athletes. When you’re in the world of training and you realize just how easy it is to influence people to get people under your wing and to make people think you know what you’re doing it causes concern and all trainer’s heads for how much manipulation is going on in the industry. I’ve been in the training industry for many years now and the amount of training and manipulation that goes on is disgusting especially when it comes to sports performance training. As a parent and an athlete, it’s your job when it comes to sports performance training to be responsible and to be sure that you know that you’re in good hands. Obviously, there’s always somebody more credible and there’s always somebody less credible it’s about sifting through the BS to be sure that your sports performance training or sports performance trainer knows what they’re doing. There are plenty of college or even high school athletes out there who grow up and think I wanna be a trainer and they go and they put you through the same things that they would do whenever they were at school. This means that they’re just carrying on the exact same things that happen for them another pushing on somebody else this means that there’s little to no extra education involved people are simply taking what they’ve done and apply and get to a professional career it would be the same as if you did your taxes through TurboTax one year and then thought oh I could be an accountant for a fortune 500 company it doesn’t equate it doesn’t add up being a professional and being an amateur or to vastly different things. Being sure that your trainer is a professional and he’s not just an amateur is very important. One key indicator is checking who trusts this trainer if you see multiple high-level trustworthy athletes the trust them if you see schools and organizations that trust them that you also trust that’s one simple indicator but that also doesn’t mean a lot because that could just be built through a personal connection. I know plenty of trainers out there who just have a connection to a parent or an organization and because of that connection, they get all the training which makes it seem like they know what they’re doing which in all reality they do not. Another big warning sign from a trainer to the actual perspective of parents and athletes as certification doesn’t always mean that much well the certification is good because it means you have a baseline knowledge and you’ve applied some of your time and energy to achieving a certification it does not directly mean you know what you’re doing the real training in the real development as you could ask any trainer comes from your own personal research development and studies to be sure that you’re a master and that skill to be sure that you know exactly what you’re doing to be sure that you answer the questions that you don’t know the answers to that you’re constantly learning constantly educating because the training knowledge is getting more vast day by day and if you’re doing the same training that you’ve done forever but one thing for sure you’re falling behind. As a parent or athlete, it’s essential to be responsible to make sure that you get the proper training you need to make sure your athlete is safe and that is maximizing the growth’s the biggest thing is maximizing their growth and their safety if you could go somewhere else and spend the same amount of money and see more growth and more development you should do that you should be constantly watching your growth while assessing your athletes’ Effort along the way. In an article following this, we’re gonna talk about questions you can ask your trainers to see if they do know what they’re talking about the things that you can watch with your trainers to see if they do indeed know what they’re talking about.
