Innovative Explosive Exercises to Unlock Athlete Performance
At Next Level Athletics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, our performance system is built on the foundation of innovative explosive exercises. These high-intensity, force-driven movements are intentionally programmed to help athletes build speed, increase vertical power, and improve total-body control. From warm-up to final rep, every part of our program is designed to translate directly to sport.
This isn’t about random workouts. Instead, we take a data-driven, assessment-based approach to training that enhances explosiveness, agility, and reaction time. Athletes of all levels benefit — whether they’re chasing their first PR or preparing for college-level competition.
How This Changes the Workouts
Success in sport often comes down to how quickly you can load, react, and move. Explosiveness separates the good from the elite. Furthermore, whether it’s a powerful first step or a vertical jump in traffic, the athlete who reacts faster gains the edge.
Beyond strength and speed, innovative explosive exercises enhance neuromuscular efficiency, improves joint control, and builds confidence. Consequently, that’s why we focus not only on performance — but also on sustainability and movement quality.
From Evaluation to Execution
Every athlete at Next Level starts with our 6-part Next Level Athletics Assessment. This includes standing reach, vertical jump, approach vertical, broad jump, 20-yard sprint, and the 5-10-5 shuttle. We use this data to determine strengths, weaknesses, and movement patterns.
Once we know where an athlete stands, we tailor their program with purpose. For example, if we see limited lateral speed or inefficient takeoff mechanics, we’ll integrate targeted drills to build those specific outputs. This ensures each athlete trains in a way that’s both personalized and measurable.
How We Train for Speed and Power
Explosive training at Next Level Athletics goes far beyond jumping exercises. Our athletes use tools like resistance bands, sleds, medicine balls, and the VertiMax to develop both vertical and horizontal force. We pair heavy lifts with sprint work, reaction drills with mobility, and plyometrics with purpose.
Also, rather than adding more volume, we focus on intention, tempo, and reaction time. As a result, the goal is always transfer — making sure what happens in the gym shows up on the field or court. Combining complex training and plyometrics helps the overall explosive power of the muscular system.
Adapting Training Over Time
Younger athletes might begin with pogo hops and loaded carries to establish coordination and joint control. As they improve, we layer in more advanced plyometric progressions, including split squat jumps, depth landings, and rotational work.
Additionally, we retest every month to track progress and adjust programming. Athletes can see changes in vertical height, sprint times, broad jump distance, and reaction time. This feedback loop drives motivation and lets athletes see that the work is paying off.
Sustainable Performance for Every Level
Explosive strength exercises isn’t just for elite athletes — it’s essential for anyone who wants to move better. Whether an athlete is 10 or 20 years old, they benefit from increased force production, faster reaction time, and greater control under pressure.
Additionally, the same systems we use with high-level athletes are scaled for youth and developmental players. That means every athlete learns how to move well, land safely, and improve explosiveness over time — without risking injury or burnout.
What Sets Us Apart
At Next Level, we don’t do hype. We do results.
We measure. We coach. We track. And we train with the end goal in mind. Moreover, every explosive rep is backed by purpose, data, and coaching that cares.
If you’re ready to train with intent, develop elite-level explosiveness, and take your performance to the next level in Tulsa, it starts here.
Curious what sort of innovative explosive exercises we do?
Innovative explosive exercises are high-performance training movements that combine traditional tools like barbells and kettlebells with modern equipment such as resistance bands, sleds, and the VertiMax to improve speed, power, and total-body explosiveness. These exercises are intentionally designed to mimic real sport movements, helping athletes produce more force, accelerate faster, and jump higher during game situations. By focusing on force production, quick reaction time, and multidirectional movement, we help athletes develop power that directly translates to their sport. This approach to athletic training builds stronger, faster, and more explosive athletes — not just in the gym, but where it counts most: on the field or court.
